SportKompas is a fun and practical tool to:

  • offer an objective method for sport orientation to children 6-10 years old
  • monitor development of physical fitness from 6-16 years old

SportKompas consists of two modules. The ‘I LIKE’ module is an interactive survey that checks what kinds of activities the child likes or dislikes. The ‘I DO’ module consists of physical tests to assess what the child is good at.

By orienting children to sports that match their profile, SportKompas aims to reduce drop-out of organised sports that often occurs around the age of 12. By keeping kids active in sports, the goal is to contribute to a lifelong active lifestyle. On top of that, the physical tests serve as an ideal test battery to monitor the physical fitness level of children aged 6 to 16. This provides insights for teachers, governments, and stakeholders to improve physical education, detect health concerns, measure the impact of certain interventions and shape policies for active lifestyles.
